Slow work on a short back and sides.

The visit

How an appointment runs

Four steps, start to finish, so nothing about the hour is a surprise.

  1. Arrive

Come five minutes before your slot. There is a bench by the window, and the kettle is usually on.

  2. Talk it through

Your barber looks at how the hair falls dry first, then agrees the length, the weight and the neckline with you.

  3. The cut

Wash, cut and check. You will be shown the shape halfway through, while it can still be changed.

  4. Finish

Dressed or left natural, your choice. You leave knowing how to get the same shape at home.

The bench

Who is in the chairs

Ask for whoever suits the cut you want. If neither is free on your day, either will happily pick up the other's regulars.

Rowan Ash

Owner · Chair one

Trained on scissor work and never really left it. Rowan is the one to ask for if you want length kept, weight removed, or a cut that grows out without a hard line.

How the walk-in list works

Each morning both barbers hold their first two slots for walk-ins. Come in, give your name at the bench, and you will be told honestly how long the wait is — we would rather you came back after lunch than sat for an hour.

From midday onwards the chairs run on booked appointments, with any cancellations offered to whoever is waiting in the shop at that moment.

Mondays are closed to the public — that is blade servicing, laundry and the week's bookings.

Questions

Worth knowing first

What happens if I am running late?
Up to ten minutes is fine and you will still get the full cut. Past that, your barber will shorten the service to protect the next appointment, or move you to the end of the session if there is room. Let us know when you can.
Can I walk in without booking?
Yes, in the morning. Both barbers hold their first two slots open each day. Afternoons are appointment-led, though cancellations are offered to anyone waiting in the shop.
Do you cut children's hair?
We do, from around four years old, and the under-twelves rate covers it. Book the first slot of the day if your child does better before the shop gets busy — there is a booster seat and no pressure to sit still for a perfect finish.
How do I choose between a fade and a scissor cut?
A fade holds a sharp shape but needs refreshing every two to three weeks. Scissor work sits softer and grows out for six weeks or more without looking untidy. If you are not in the shop often, ask for scissor work with a tapered neck.
Can I switch to the other barber?
Always, and nobody takes it personally. Both barbers keep notes on guard numbers, partings and finished lengths, so your cut carries across chairs. Just name who you would like when you send a request.
What if I need to cancel or move my slot?
Send a note as early as you can and the slot goes back on the list at no charge. Repeated same-hour cancellations mean we will ask you to walk in instead of booking ahead, simply because an empty chair cannot be filled that late.
Do you sell anything to take home?
A short shelf only: one clay, one cream, one beard oil and a decent comb. Your barber will tell you if you do not need any of it, which is most of the time.

Send it over and we will answer

Tell us what you want cut and roughly when. We reply with a time to confirm — nothing is booked until you have that reply, and we will never put you on a mailing list.

We reply on shop days only. Requests sent on a Sunday are answered Tuesday morning.
